Rohini Venkatesan

Senior Class Mentoring Lead

Meet our incredible volunteer, Rohini Venkatesan! Rohini started her journey as an active member of the Minds Matter community 5 years ago as a mentor. Since then, she has worn many hats in our organization to help ensure our mentees receive the support and development they need to pursue higher education. For the 2022–2023 school year, Rohini will lead mentoring for the Senior Class.

What Are Your Relationships Like With the Students You Work With? I've mostly only seen my current mentee class on Zoom—I'm so excited to get to know them better in person next year! They may not feel the same way once they realize how much weirder I am in person though ;)

I'm also lucky to still chat with my former mentee & co-mentor regularly—we try to meet up when our mentee is home from school during breaks and I'm always so happy to see how she's doing and how much she's grown since I first met her.

What Is Your Favorite Part of Minds Matter? My favorite part of Minds Matter is knowing that we are making a difference in the San Francisco community—it's so easy to get caught up in all the things going on in the world and feel like there is no way to make a tangible difference. Minds Matter is my reminder that there are so many things we can do to help if we just take the time to make a commitment to our community.

What Has Been Your Favorite Social Event or Gathering? The MMSF gala is my favorite social event! Who could have a bad time at adult prom?
