Software Operations Lead on Impact team

Ideal Start Date: November 1st, 2023

Minds Matter Bay Area (MMBay) is an education nonprofit that connects driven and determined high school students from low-income families with the people, preparation, and possibilities to succeed in college, create their future, and change the world.

The Impact team oversees all data reporting, collection, and operations.  The Impact tools and software play a very important role in MMBay’s weekly operations. The tools help the leadership plan weekly sessions, collect and analyze data, and derive valuable insights from it, which is fed back into the planning process. The tools and their features would help MMBay scale to multiple sites and help support the leadership team with valuable data and insights.

As MMBay continues to grow and expand into other sites, there is a need for MMBay processes and operations to scale – that’s where the Software (SW) Operations Lead comes in! The SW Operations Lead will own the operations pillar of the Impact team.

The Impact Software Operations Lead volunteer will be responsible for:

  • Owning and enhancing MMBay’s attendance check-in tool

  • Owning and enhancing scripts related to attendance and onboarding/offboarding

  • Working with CIOs, other Impact team members, and steering leadership to automate tasks that are currently manual

  • Identifying key areas to automate or simplify operations.

An ideal volunteer candidate would be someone that has:

  • Strong programming / software engineering skills

  • At MMBay, we use a combination of Javascript (with the Google Sheets API) and Python (for data analysis and Salesforce APIs).

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • An excitement for building out and maintaining MMBay script and tools

We anticipate this role will require ~1-2 hours per week commitment throughout the school year with a potential 2-3 hours per week, around the time the school year starts.
