SCS Noonan Scholars Program

program overview

SCS Noonan Scholars’ two-part, six year-long program provides a continuum of support for our students throughout the
entire life-cycle of higher education – beginning their junior year of high school through college and into their first job.

1st Part - Before College

SCS Noonan Scholars works with students before college
to ensure that they are admitted to the selective college
that is right for them, and that they are prepared to
succeed once they arrive on campus. As high school
juniors and seniors, Scholars participate in:

COLLEGE ADMISSIONS ADVISING and TEST PREP to
ensure students are applying to “best fit” selective
colleges with the qualifications necessary for admittance.
These colleges have smaller class sizes, strong student
support services, no-loan or low-loan financial aid
packages, and higher graduation rates for low-income
and first-generation students.

ACADEMIC PREPARATION through SUMMER
ACADEMY. Our academically rigorous Summer Academy
ensures that our Scholars have the skills they need to
thrive in college.

2nd Part - Throughout College

Once our students are in college, SCS Noonan Scholars
provides them with the supports they need to be
academically successful and to graduate with the
degree, skills, and experiences they need for the
career of their choosing. Over the course of four years,
students receive:

INDIVIDUAL ACADEMIC SUPPORT to help
students remain academically competitive and
maintain their financial aid.

BRIDGE SCHOLARSHIPS ranging from $1,000 to
$2,500, to help with costs frequently not covered by
financial aid, such as transportation, living expenses
and health insurance.

MENTORS who help Scholars navigate the
transition to college and provide one-on-one guidance
related to career exploration and professional skills
development. Mentors serve as the first person in a
Scholars’ professional network.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT through webinars,
workshops, and conferences that help Scholars to
understand their professional interests and skills and
learn how to apply them in dierent industries. SCS
Noonan works with Scholars and alumni to provide
them with resume reviews, mock interviews, and/or
grad school assistance.

ACCESS TO A PROFESSIONAL NETWORK of job
and internship opportunities in fields such as medicine,
the life sciences, law, and finance. Our network includes
numerous Fortune 500 companies.
