Rachel Cai, Chief Executive Officer

Rachel is the Chief Executive Officer of Minds Matter of San Francisco. She joined MMSF in 2014 as the Head of Programming and, today, she leads MMSF's growth and operations across all our functions. She currently works for Google for Education as a Strategy and Solutions Manager, and previously worked as a consultant at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and at the District Management Council. Rachel is originally from New Jersey and graduated from Princeton University. When she's not at her day job or volunteering, she enjoys traveling, hiking, scuba diving, board games, and hanging out with her dog.

Patrick Murren, CO-Head of Programs

After serving for three years as a class lead for the Class of 2016, Patrick is now MMSF's Head of Programming, helping with everything from weekly session operations to guiding a highly talented team of instructional and mentoring leaders to scaling our program for future generations of MMSF students. A Teach For America alumnus ('07 New Orleans), Patrick earned his B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Notre Dame. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and works in the structures group at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. When not designing buildings, mentoring students, or talking (griping) about his beloved Irish, you'll most likely find him on the golf course pursuing that elusive sub-80 round.

isaac Strong, Co-Head of Programs

Isaac joins Patrick as Co-Head of Programs this year, bringing with him previous experience as a MMSF mentor for 3 years and the Sophomore Class Lead for 2 years. As part of the team that developed and implemented MMSF’s first ever 3-Year Curriculum, Isaac is particularly passionate about balancing the quality of MMSF’s Programming and MMSF’s growth, ensuring that MMSF maximizes its impact on our community. The mission of MMSF is important to Isaac because, like our mentees, he comes from a low-income background and is the first in his family to attend and graduate a 4-year college. Isaac earned is B.S. in Biology from Gonzaga University. After earning his PhD in Cellular Biology from the University of California San Francisco, Isaac began teaching at St. Ignatius College Preparatory here in San Francisco.

Stefanie Lau, Head of Community

Stefanie joined Minds Matter in 2015 and serves as Head of Community, focusing on recruiting, onboarding, and engaging MMSF's constituents. Previously, she served as a program manager for the instructional/test-prep component of MMSF's program. As a local San Franciscan, Stefanie grew up going to public schools and this direct experience is the root of her passion for MMSF! On a professional level, she is a product manager at Glint Inc. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at Google building up an eclectic background in diversity and inclusion, program and product management, operations, change management, corporate communications, and training. Stefanie holds a BA in Political Science and BA in Communication from the University of California, Davis and is an avid traveler, student, and career coach.

Robert Chen, Head of Extended reach

Rob joined Minds Matter in 2014, operating in a variety of roles since: mentor, alumni engagement, and strategy. He is now the Head of Extended Reach, which is composed of our Alumni Program and new 9th Grade Program. Rob works at Facebook as a Market Strategist, partnering with product leads to set business and product strategy for various consumer products. He attended UC Berkeley and graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa with degrees in Molecular & Cell Biology and Political Science. In his spare time, Rob enjoys exploring ideas through books, running through parks, and thinking about public policy.

Amrit Rathi, Head of finance

Amrit joins us as Head of Finance after three years as a mentor and a member of the Executive Team. Volunteering for most of his life, he has made it his personal mission is to level the playing field for bright motivated students, regardless of their background, experience, and school's reputation. As Head of Finance, he looks to help model and scale the organization to reach its ambitious goals and prepare for growth in the coming years. He attended UC Berkeley and graduated from with a dual degree in Business Administration from Haas School of Business and Economics. In his spare time, Amrit enjoys leading his company soccer team on the field, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Clinton Masterson, Co-President, Partnerships & Fundraising

Clint joins us as Co-President of Partnerships and Fundraising after two years as a mentor. He has a passionate team of volunteers committed to making sure we can provide the best experience for our mentees, from Session to Summer Programs. Clint is originally from New Jersey and attended University of Maryland but came out to San Francisco on a work trip and never looked back. He has worked in software at large companies and startups, most recently at Avis running Connected Car Projects. Clint likes anything that moves, so you'll find him sailing, biking, and riding his motorcycle around the Bay.

Ayush jain, Co-President, Events & Marketing

Ayush joins us as Co-President of Marketing and Events after being a mentor and marketing strategist for MMSF. He has a dedicated team that strives to energize the organization and spread the MMSF vision across the San Francisco community. Ayush is a Bay Area local and graduated from Boston University before returning to San Francisco in 2013. He designs and develops medical devices as an R&D engineer at Stryker Neurovascular, a company dedicated to the treatment of stroke. Ayush's passions outside of Minds Matter include swimming, reading, and traveling.
