I love the smell of fresh pressed paper and new books. School's back in session, everyone, and so is Minds Matter!

August is all about kicking off the year right, so a few very important dates, locations and events you should know about:

AUGUST 12, 2017: Class of 2020 & Parent Welcome

Recap: Spent the morning introducing our mentee's parents to MMSF and letting our new mentees have a candid conversation led by Nicole Chui (alum, 2017) with Monica Cao (2018), Enrike Kaltakhtchyan (2019), Sam Mendez (2019), Marcela Salazar (2019), and Kyle Hu (alum, 2017).


AUGUST 19, 2017: New Volunteer Orientation and Class of 2020 Orientation (sans parents!)

Time: 10am - 2pm
Location: Urban School of San Francisco (1563 Page Street, SF, CA)

New Volunteer Onboarding/Orientation: Get excited new volunteers! We are getting all the basics about MMSF out of the way today to make sure you're ready to rock when you meet your fellow incumbents next weekend (8/26). There's a lot to understand about this quirky, scrappy, inspiring organization and we can't wait to welcome you into our family. Happy hour to follow @ HQ.

Class of 2020 Orientation; Parents stay home this time! This Saturday, we're going to have some good bonding time, where you'll get to know your other mentees and set some intentions for your time at MMSF. We'll also hook you up with some SWEET goodies and tech. Come excited!

Lunch: Sandwiches (mixed vegetarian and meat) - If you have allergies, bring a sack lunch!


AUGUST 26, 2017: All Volunteer Welcome and Class of 2020 Diagnostic Test

Time: 10am - 2pm
Location: Saint Ignatius College Prep (2001 37th Ave, SF, CA - map)

All Volunteer Welcome: It's time to kick off the year, everyone! Come together to get inspired, learn about the game plan for the year, and get your learn on by attending one of our amazing workshops. Volunteer-only picnic lunch from ~1:00 pm to whenever in Golden Gate Park to follow.

Class of 2020 Diagnostic Test: Yeah, it's not particularly fun, but we need you to be ready and focused for your first diagnostic SAT / ACT test. Arrive at 10am and plan to stay until about 2pm. We'll be serving you lunch during the break between your first 2 test sections.
